As you can see, it's lasted for years so far and I've never had any trouble with it. Four different alarm settings is great depending on what time I needed to get up to. I've owned this unit for about 4 years now and has a very clear full range sound to especially sleep to. One thing that Sony should have put on this unit is a 9 volt battery backup for power interruptions. I'm self employed if if I had an early client appointment, no problem or I could use a second alarm as a reminder for something or a later Doctors appointment. You can dim the display allot and with my bad eyes, I could still see the clock numbers great. It's a pain to reset everything when this happens. Great unit and very nice sound regardless.
I've had this machine for at least five years now and it still works great. For me, this particular clock tends to lose time over a period of weeks. The cloth around the speakers tend to split at the edges, so be careful when handling it. The display for the time and radio frequencies are easy to read. Other than all that, it works great and it's reliable. The three alarms wake me up. The CD has good sound and the bass adjustment is a welcome feature. While it's easy to program, there is no battery back-up for the clock and radio settings which would be more than welcome.
I really appreciate the fact that the buzzer starts softly and increases in volume instead of blasting at top volume. The only real flaw is that if you have a headphone plugged in when the radio alarm goes off, you won't hear anything, but if you have the CD setting on with no CD, then the buzzer sounds. The clock doesn't keep perfect time. The only real drawback is that while the display can be dimmed, it doesn't go completely out. Also, since the changes to HDTV from analog, forget about TV sound.
Pros:- Good feature set- Decent sound- Auto adjusting back-lightCons:The controls on this alarm clock are simply absurd. More importantly, to turn the alarm off in the morning you really need to turn the light on and squint to find the off button (which is small and located on the front next to a barrage of other buttons of identical size). I am in a technical profession and not afraid of feature-rich tools and toys. But this clock radio has such confusing and non-intuitive controls that it takes forever to set a new alarm time or adjust the display time or station. This is just horribly poor design. In short, had I known how frustrating it was to operate this device I would not have bought it.
Is very bad product. Don't have good reception and sound, and lost easy the programation.I feel bad with the buy.
If you're listening to a semi-weak signal, you'll have to position the antenna a few different ways to find your station. It's a nice compact unit with a relatively small "footprint," and the sound quality is quite good for this size model. It has a lot of them -- TV band, weather band, 2 FM bands, AM band, sleep, nap, snooze, gentle wake, select CD wake track, and so on. I found the directions to be simple and user-friendly.
This fills the bill beautifully. I'll probably never use all of the features on this clock radio. I admit to being a little disappointed that the Gentle Wake feature only works with the buzzer and not with the radio or CD alarms. One thing I really like is that I can fall asleep to a soothing CD while having the alarm set to the radio. You'll hear a little CD spinning sound when playing CDs, but it's pretty minimal and I have to admit I didn't notice it after the first moment or two.
This unit was pretty easy to set up. This set does a lot of things really well. I needed a really good clock radio with a CD player and a digital FM tuner. I have experimented with the various alarm settings, and they work well. It does play CD-Rs as advertised and plays them very well.
The radio reception is good but less than great. You can set different alarms with different wake modes (radio, buzzer, CD) for each person. It was worth the money.
